Healthy Nature incorporates a social work approach to supporting individuals with disabilities to live ordinary lives. Social Workers are allied health professionals who help people face life’s challenges, improve their well-being, and do their best to ensure people are treated fairly.
The founder of Healthy Nature, Narelle Stegehuis, has a Grad. Dip in Health Science, Master of Health Science, Masters of Social Work (Mental Health Qualifying), Post Graduate Certification in Psychotherapy, and is a Fellow of Advance Higher Education. Narelle has recently completed Higher Degree Research and has published articles in leading medical journals.
Narelle has specialised expertise and training in human behaviour, family relationships, and social justice. Social Workers are governed by professional standards through the Australian Association of Social Workers and trained in Standardised Independent Assessment.
The (AASW) and the Social Work profession are recognised by the Allied Health Professions Australia (AHPA). In the disability field, social workers can use their diverse professional skills to build capacity for people with disabilities in particular areas identified in the individual’s NDIS Plan. They can undertake assessments, provide 1:1 and group interventions, and provide training for caregivers and professionals.
